Dinette measurements

Dinette users… I need some dimensions. I will be building my own, but am curious what size is "standard" if there is such a thing.

Length, Depth, Height… and the amount of space in-between --- and maybe most importantly, what you would change if you could.

Re: Dinette measurements

I don't know if there is a standard or not but when I went through this I ended up searching for "RV dinette table" and found a bunch of suppliers for the table tops. I used that as a basis for what I did, ended up with a 28 x 38 table top.

On the recommendation of a member here I used a "Sequoia" post for the leg. I think it ended up being about 27" to the bottom of the table but don't remember for sure. The nice thing about the sequoia is that the platform is only 1/2 thick so I didn't need a big hole in the floor to recess it or have it stick up too far. I don't know yet whether I like it or not as I haven't had a chance to use since I installed it.

I removed mine permanently. Ford vans curve in at the top, and sitting at the dinette was not comfortable for me at 6'3". No leaning back, only leaning forward. Also, the amount of time a dinette is in use is small compared to other uses for the space it requires.

There is just the two of us, not sure how it plays out with youngsters.

I agree. We used ours once. It was better for extra seating and of course laid out in to a bed. We mostly left it as a bed and stored stuff on it (since it was at the back).

I still have mine and will take measurements for you. If you were closer I would give it to you, but it's several large, heavy pieces of wood. I replaced it with a steel bed platform before I sold my old van.

Re: Dinette measurements

Thanks to all.

I expect it to get limited use, as we are having a PH put in, but still some use. I like the idea of the storage inside, and we do some weekend trips with others that may want to use it.

We are fairly short, so that isn't a huge issue.

I think I might prefer other options, but it seems like a cheap way to get seating, dining and a bed all in one shot.

Re: Dinette measurements

We have a dinette centered in the van (over the wheelwells). We really like it as a bed, coupled with inset walls on the van. It's very comfortable and a good size for us (we're 5'2" and 5'9"). We use it occasionally for eating, mainly when it's rainy or buggy out. Otherwise, we eat outside.

Underneath we have the water tank and system on one side, and three batteries, inverter, and a little bit of storage space on the other side.

Re: Dinette measurements

I purchased a dinette to use in our home build. We plan to use it over the wheel wells as well. I am a little worried about the seat height. Could someone measure the seat height from floor to top of the bottom cushion? Mine is measuring 18-19" and I think I need to lower it ~ 3" (Front seat is ~15" I don't have a rear seat I can measure for height right now.

Re: Dinette measurements

Would still love to get some dimension... depth, width, height. Space between.

Thanks.
