Drawer System with Folding Bench.

Taking everything in and out of my van is getting a bit old when I want to sleep. I have a stock fold down bench seat that we utilize as our bed platform. It stays in bench mode while we are in transit (second dog bed) until we sleep.

I’m looking to build some sort of drawer system that will also act as a support for the bench seat when deployed in the bed configuration. The bar that it uses right now makes it a bit challenging to store things under the bed. I am thinking in order to make the bench clear the drawer system I would have to fully extended the drawers, pull the bed out and slide the drawers back in.

Does any have examples of someone building a storage system in the back while utilizing a fold down bench/bed? I recall someone removed the bar and made a shelf but that was about it.

Has this been tried before? Anything I should think before starting this project?

I’ll take pics of my current setup when I get home.

Thanks!
