Re: Dynamat, Reflectix and other general interior questions...

I am using E-low on my van, easy to work with.
As it was mentionned, it is closed cell foam which I find better than the products with larger air cells
I did the front cab area and could already notice less noise can't wait to finish it...

Andrew, do you feel like it would crush underfoot? I had a big piece of Reflectix under the carpet and it (being bubble wrap inside) just turned to a sheet of tinfoil.

Re: Dynamat, Reflectix and other general interior questions...

Ok, I had more luck searching for "EZ Cool Insulation" instead of Low-E. I've cooled a little on the EZ Cool (no pun intended). I found a few side by side comparisons between both Reflectix and EZ Cool/Low-E and here's what I took from them.
1. About 1/2" is needed for both to be effective.
2. They offer some sort of sound deadening. They fall way short of actual sound deadening material (i.e Dynamat) but anything when placed in the right spot will absorb road noise.
3. EZ Cool/Low-E won't crackle as much as Reflectix and should hold up better when used on the floor of the vehicle.

There were other things albeit minimal differences that I can't recall after pages and pages of comparisons from various websites. I think personally, I'm back on the Reflectix bandwagon for now. Any slight advantage that the EZ Cool/Low-E might have isn't worth it to me since I think I got a pretty good deal with the $10 off $25 at Lowes. I think having some kind of padding over the top of the Reflectix would help it last a little longer? Bedrug makes that rubber cargo mat for our vans. How do you guys think Reflectix, rubber mat then plywood would hold up? I gotta check how thick the padding is.

KTM, what do you think about the insulation from quietride? Is it pretty much the same as in home fiberglass? I wonder how it does as far as not retaining moisture. What's the coldest temp you've spent in the van after install?

Bettyford, that was definitely you I saw with the Reflectix install. I couldn't recall your name at the time I was writing my post.

It will squeese depending on the weight applied but doesn't go to a tinfoil thickness.
Being foam it will keep a thickness and come somewhat back in place when walked on.
Didn't test it more until now, just installed it in the cab area.
