E350- room for what sized spare?

How big of spare will fit under a 2013 E350 where the stock one is at? Will a 285 70 17 fit in that space?

not sure if the 2013 is different than the 03, but i have a 285/75/16 where the stocker spare normally sits. i cant say if the area is modified to accept that size spare or not. its how it was when i purchased the vehicle.

I think a 265 is the biggest you can fit without trimming. But if you trim the "ears" on the stock carrier, then a taller tire will also fit. Keep in mind that your hitch receiver profile makes a difference too.

I fit a 275/70-18 in mine. It needed the 'ears' to be bent and the factory hitch had to be modified to move it back ~.75", and the tire still wasn't flat in there. But, it worked until I got an Aluminess spare carrier for a stock bumper.

Thanks guys. I guess I better wait until I get the van from Quigley before I order tires and wheels. Ordered the van from Ford the end of June and Quigley has had it for a month now. Can't wait to start my build.

Whats with the upside down ammo can? Great hiding place but a little messy when you open the can
and all the ammo spills on the ground.

Re: E350- room for what sized spare?

Cut the ears on my 03 RB filed and bent them and got 35x17 to fit nicely, my problem is the spare tire wrench has too much of an angle and I have trouble spinning the tire up and down because it hits the bumper. Suppose I'll take some bend out someday.

Thanks everyone for the info. I took care of my question by ordering an Aluminess bumper with the spare swing arm and a galley box. I'll have to find another use for the empty space under the van. Maybe my battery box???

I highly recommend underfloor storage. There's plenty of room on the frame rails mid-ship for more batteries. I'm tempted to upgrade my underfloor box with a much bigger one. I sized it to leave space for a rear fuel tank, but I'm starting to rethink that plan. It was built by NorthLeftCoast (a forum member here) and I installed it by spending a couple hours with a plasma torch (I had to cut twice, and weld up my first cut because I didn't look underneath first )
