Fans And Vents, what to use?

Hi All, I see so much about FantasticFan, but they seem to be made for giant RV's not my E250, I don't what that giant profile sticking up and they are pricy. I notice they do sell a vent only w/out motor. Any advice on a lower profile vent sized for a van.

Look at MaxxAir. More robust, lots of feature, reliable, low profile available and they often go on sale (Amazon). Love mine!

I installed the MaxxAir in my van I can leave it open during the hot days to keep inside temperate down while parked. It also has the reverse fan so I installed pop out rear windows and just open them and put the fan on exhaust and it gives a nice breeze through the the van. I also added two small fans inside and they work great to cool off the inside of the van. MaxxAir it worth adding.

Have had Fantastic Vents for 30+ years and they have worked fine. I do prefer the 10 speed over the 3 speed because of the reduced current draw. Not sure what you are talking about when you say "they seem to be made for giant RV's". As far as I can see the MaxAir and Fantastic Vents dimensions are similar. They both are the industry standard for quality. Unless you are refering to optional vent covers. I would not buy any brand w/o a motor to pull or blow air I think they are a waste of money. What ever you consider I would recommend you compare CFM and current draw of the fan. The Fantastic Vent I have draws less then 1.6amps at the highest speed and pulls 960cfm.

I have the Fantastic installed in my GTRV top, and it works fine. It might be nice having more speed choices and less current draw on the very lowest speeds, but I don't run it all the time and my solar panels keep the batteries topped off most days. It does stick up a bit, but the rack I built protects it from tree branches etc. All in all, no complaints, but the Maxxair may be better for your use if you need the features it offers.

We have a Fantastic Fan that works great. Have also added a Fantastic Vent, no motor. Most of the time we have just been opening the smoked lids on them and a couple of windows with motor off. That seem so to provide enough ventilation to keep the van from getting overly warm on hot days.

Here's a slightly less cluttered picture with the vent down.

Thanks all, there is a 14" x 14" hole already cut for a Heng or old style Elixir vent, may be easier to replace it, also much lower profile than the Fntstc fan, I'm trying to retain some stealth and low profile
