Re: Finally Getting Started!

Added some color and reinstalled for the 25th time.

The plan for the weekend is to build the doors. I already bought the hinges from the big box hardware store. It took two coats to cover and I still have to put the finishing touches on the cabinets. The van tred scuffed the paint sliding them in (the streaks on the flooring).

Interior pic showing the rear air openings. I used the factory seat frame bolt hole locations and bolts to secure the cabinets. I placed the cabinets in the van measured several times and then crawled under the van and drilled pilot holes up through the bottom. After the locations were made I pulled the cabinets back out and drilled the correct size for the seat frame bolts.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

I should have already posted these. This was the first improvement made to the van, window screens. I made the pattern and had them sewn by a family friend. They came out pretty good for just a few dollars. I already had the para cord for the pull strings from another project and bought the screen from the big box hardware. We finished them in time for the maiden camping trip my oldest daughter and I made to one of her horse shows.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

The Fed Ex guy showed up today. Any Guesses?

I should have pulled the van closer to the porch because it was heavy carrying across the yard.

Its larger than expected. I knew the dimensions when I ordered but it sure is big. I know I will appreciate the size later. External Dimensions: 20 13/16" H x 24 11/16" W x 17 11/16" D.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

Here is the approx install location. I need to figure out a low profile cabinet for tie down purposes.

I almost forgot, I had a helper tonight. Actually, he was not much of a helper but he seemed to like the fridge.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

I also had time for the sleeping platform. When I was welding up the rails for the platform i tried to take some action shots but the camera battery died. The rails came out pretty good. Got them painted and installed. I will eventually change the design because of the weight of the platform itself. I wanted a two piece platform that could be stored on top of each side. I have some ideas on a new one but this one will have to work for now.

I have to trim the mattress around the pillar where the rear air lines run on the drivers side.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

Looking nice Brian, I know what you mean about the rear air getting in the way, but we can't live without it. I'm trying to build a dinette back there and I have no idea how I'm gonna work around it.
