I pulled the upper and lower panel on the drivers side then reinstalled only the upper panel. My cabinet's are 22" tall and where they meet the upper factory panel. Here is the backside of the drivers cabinet.

I notched around the system as best I could keeping in mind to leave enough room for air flow. The idea came from trying to emulate the factory lower panel and maximize space.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

Not much build progress. I did get a chance to get away and spend the night in the van over the week end. I took the Mt. Bike and spent the night at one of my favorite spots. It was a short trip but it was nice to get away and try out the sleeping platform.

I stayed at Poinsett State Park. I got there late having to wait till after work to leave. When I got there the campground was completely empty. I was amazed. One family did eventually show up but I'm not sure they all stayed. The park started as a CCC camp.

I rode the bike in the AM on the trails surrounding the park.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

UPS guy showed up with some battery boxes.

They are the ones from EBAY. I plan to run an isolator from the starting battery to the "house" battery or batteries running the fridge and an inverter.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

Yesterday we spent the day in the van doing some family things. We traveled down to Charleston to look at a couple of ponies. I noticed an issue with the rear brakes during the trip. We finally got home after dark last night so there was no time to look last night. This morning I pulled the wheels and just like I thought I needed pads and to turn the rotors.

I had the rotors turned at the parts store this morning and got everything reinstalled. Yesterday while driving the cabinet latches vibrated to much for me. Later today I will see if I can find a quick fix.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

Glad to see you got your battery boxes, let me know if you need any pointers...I sent you the part numbers didnt I?

Also checking your rear brakes reminds me I need to do the same and at least check them again. Last time I had the wheels off the pads were ok but now my e brake needs something as it feels lkke one side isnt holdong well, maybe its time for new shoes.

I saw a van like yours tonight and I must say thats a nice color red.

Re: Finally Getting Started!

Yes I have the part numbers, Thanks! I was surprised because they are almost complete. The only thing I think they are missing are the frame bolts. They have the safety tie downs, tops, as well as the battery tie downs on the inside.

My shoes looked fine but its kinda funny you mentioning the e brake because I cant remember the last time I used one on any vehicle not just the van.

Yep, I have felt pads installed already, small ones that came with the hinges. The rattle was coming from the slide bolts, they are just slightly loose. Tried electrical tape first but no good. Right now I have tooth picks along side the slide bolts until I come up with something better.

What about heat shrink tubing or vinyl dip?
