Beautiful bumper! And I get the yellow and black theme (although it could appear a little ominous driving through a neighorhood after dark on Halloween.

But what is the chrome looking muffler dealy below the bumper?

The plates, frame, and the box holding the camera are the only yellow. It was unintentional. NY plates are yellow. Licence plate from is modeled after the movie. The box is scavenged from a toolbox. But... Now that you mention it it does pop. Maybe a few more hints are called for.

The muffler looking thing is a sparebumber http://www.sparebumper.com/. The idea of replacing the boxes or the bumper grates my teeth so I'm protecting it. Also helps stop whiplash from the harsh impact directly into the frame via the trailer hitch. It's a convenient step too.

Last year I dressed the van up with hockey mask and machete for Halloween. Just a joke. Like 'free candy' but for grown ups. ;p

I think you're onto something, I prefer a shiny bumper over plain black.

Re: First polished aluminess bumper+backup camera relocate

Thanks. It should be about half the work to polish (1 pass, ~18 hours) if they don't deburr. Of course that only helps people getting new bumpers. I'm sure removing the powder coat won't be easy.

I have a north Dakota bumper on the front. It's the foreman and it comes polished. Really wanted everything to match. They almost look like they were made to run together.

I'll post the full camping pics soon and link it here. You can see the whole package.

From one of the photos on your blog, it looks like you have a Quadvan with New York plates. I thought I was the only other one. Where are you located?

From a phone number in the background of one of the pictures, I'd say GreatNeck, LI.

(I know NYC area pretty good, i lived in Bensonhurst Brooklyn for many years)

And how do you manage to park your rig in the Village???

I'm in Little Neck. In my neighborhood it's not alternate side, mainly because most houses have driveways so the streets open up at night. Nice place to live. My 'tank' gets lots of attention from the neighbors. Some vans around we've got a couple other econolines and a Sprinter on my block. They definitively don't like RVs by me, one of many reasons to go this route. Nobody is mistaking it for boondocking with the shades up.

I do take it into Manhattan occasionally (mainly driving family around), one reason for the different look. This blends way better than flat paint and an axe bolted to the bumper. People who don't care, don't notice it. Unless it's in their rear view.

BTW I posted pics of my latest camping trip if you missed it.

Hi. Nice to meet you. Been a fan of 4x4 vans for a while this is my first. Kinda stepped in it with quadvan. Only regret was not installing a transferflow. Been kicking myself once I realized the EPA was in full vampire mode and I couldn't buy one myself. I can't see how I can justify a trip to Oregon, and it's doesn't seem like SMB east actually does much.

Are you really in the village? Do you have a garage spot? It must cost you a fortune.
