Ford E350 XLT V10 Question
Hello all, New Guy here.
I have been mulling building a camper van for a few years now. I recently decided I am ready to pull the trigger. I am close to purchasing a 2001 E350 15 passenger with a V10, 111,000 miles as a hotel shuttle rig. Think I'll pick it up under $7k.
I am hoping some of you can offer some feedback or advice on whether I'd be better off with a different year or configuration. I've heard mixed feedback on passenger vs cargo, gas vs diesel.
I apologize if this was posted before (I have to believe it was but I didn't find it). If this was a previous discussion please just point me in the right direction.

I am on my second SMB and now have a 2014 E-350 with the gas V-10 and I love this motor. I put headers on it and gained 70 lbls of torque and get north of 11 MPG. I have heard these motors last and last, but unknown as to how long. I would guess you could get several years out of the motor. Gas motors are easier to work on the diesels. My two cents worth.

I think you'll be find for about 200,000 more miles. I have two V10's, one in a motorhome and one in a 98 passenger van and I love them. Virtually no maintenance, just gas and even that is not as bad as they say...........unless you come from a Prius.
Welcome!

Thats a fine van, but I'd recommend a 2005+ V10 because it had the 5R110 transmission- far superior imho.

There have been some amazing fully loaded low mile v10s pop up lately but be prepared to pay and don't waste a second because it will be gone.
Its a fun game called be patient but don't wait.

...and have cash in hand. If you wait to arrange financing, chances are good someone else will buy it out from under you.
