Re: Hal The Van

I'd lean it a tad further forward if I could but the seat is at it's limit. Don't know about anyone else but this is what's comfortable for me. Even after riding for several hours.

OK, This is meant as a JOKE:

Re: Hal The Van

you're thread is absolutely amazing and a vital source of information for me as i am converting my astro in a home.

I was going to put down a plastic sheet over my floor also but I think i am sold on the rubber. Plywood seems a little heavy though, did you ever consider cork? Maybe cork is just as heavy if not more though.

Re: Hal The Van

Thanks. With the thickness of plywood I used it wasn't that heavy. I've never used cork but it's not rigid so won't the metal ridges from the van floor show through?

Re: Hal The Van

with the cork idea i was thinking of filling the gaps with reflectix then adding another layer of reflectix over the metal/reflectix alternating strips as an attempt to avoid impressions from the metal ridges. is there any reason you didn't do this? You seem to of gotten every spot imaginable with that reflectix! Great idea getting those door step spots also

but i do think after a little more research you probably had the right idea with rubber and not cork. I just found online "2mm rubber underlayment is equivalent in sound resistance to 6mm cork underlayment."

That leads me to another question - how thick is that base layer of rubber you got? I tried finding what you bought online at lowes' website but had no luck. Even went there to see if I could find anything close and had no luck, so it looks like ill have to source some online like you did.

Re: Hal The Van

I didn't use reflectix on the floor since I had a layer of rigid foam.

This looks to be it the rubber flooring I used:

Amorim Rubber 4' x 10' Mat Flooring (Color: Black With Blue Flecks)

Nice work, sucks about the motor, I've done a few customers engines with bad intake gaskets putting coolant into the cylinder, causing hydraulic halt. One customer calls me can't get starter to turn, calls me later got it to crank but now has a rattle, bent rod! It usually starts with a check engine light for a miss as coolant fouls the plug
