Homebuilt battery box pics?

I finally got mine built and in and have "the lights back on” in the van, meaning inverter wired back in and ac power back on. This box was more of a chore than I anticipated. I dread ever taking it down for maintenance, but I hope it won't be that bad now that it's all worked out. Mostly all of the wiring is time consuming, and I'm not through running outlets yet.

And here's the inverter. I haven't seen anyone put one here, but mostly I was looking for a place that was well lit and easy to get to, without being on my knees in the narrow aisle of the van, as I was before. This may look odd now, but it will be inside the side wall of a cabinet that will be there soon, with a small cutout on the bottom side to access the inverter

Nice! I wasn't going to say anything about the welds. Glad you did, saved me from being a jerk.

You have been busy...The box design looks good... Welds maybe not so pretty but as long as they hold who cares they are under the van and you are the only person that will probably ever look at them...Besides you are just learning how to weld right, ya gotta start someplace... Good job done...

Thx Jamie. Yes, just bought my first welder recently. There are those who learned in shop class at school, and then there's me.

I dont envy you Dhally if you ever have to remove those batteries being you have them encased in silicone...

Gasoline vans like 86Scotty, SCBrian, dhally and I have don't have a battery down there. Our vans only have one battery for starting from the factory and it is under the hood.

Diesel vans always have two batteries. On 7.3 vans like your new one (congrats by the way) have one under the hood and one on the frame. 6.0 diesel vans have both batteries mounted under there because they don't have room under the hood because they added an intercooler to the vans.

Hope that helps...
