Re: Hyozan Build

For what it's worth, I ended up with the 50 design for 2 main reasons. First, it is basically a family room when you're inside it with a couple of people on the bench seat and the passenger swivel seat turn to face inward. That's how it functions.

second - resale value

Re: Hyozan Build

When using a factory seat, like yours, is it possible to use the factory shoulder belts? Are the mounts there?

There is a middle mount built in to the seat, so that's where I put my youngest kid's booster seat. The outside seats are only lap belts on mine but I'm sure on the driver side a mount could be added on the wall.

Backup Camera

Here is my backup camera install. Its a little different than others I've seen.

I bought a Jensen all-in-one head unit on sale from Best Buy for $299 http://www.jensenmobile.com/search/?sku=VM9424BT. It has Nav, Bluetooth, DVD playback with external monitor output, remote control, iPod interface, and backup camera input. Sounds good, but I'm on my second unit...another post on the hassles and install, perhaps.

Anyway, rather than a high mount camera, I decided to put it in the stock location. There is a clear plug in the license holder mold for a camera.

15/16" drill does the trick for an Audiovox camera, made by the same company as Jensen.

Looks stock...

Timer circuit to activate it as rear view camera next...

Nice progress!

Would love to see the rear view as displayed on the head unit----have been contemplating one of those systems for my van too.

Re: Hyozan Build

I picked up this project last week and found this write up useful. I plan to complete the interior but am considering doing much of it myself as I want to retain substantial space for gear and toys. I was wondering if anybody had a reference for a self contained small sink/stove combination unit that would fit behind the driver's seat.

A few folks here have built self contained units......IIRC maxacceleration's van has a removable sink module. The stove part may be a bit tricky depending on fuel source.

Re: Hyozan Build

well,.........close. Maxacceleration's removable module doesn't have a sink or a stove in it. Nice removable microwave module, though.

Maybe it was 86scotty's? Reliance water container for supply and grey water (or a floor drain for grey water), small 12V water pump, and a 12V power socket close by.

Re: Hyozan Build

I purchased this vehicle. It was stolen a month later in Walnut Creek, CA in the San Francisco Bay area. If you see it, call the police.
