Insuring a homebuild

Hi crew
Does anybody have any experience with insuring a homebuilt conversion. I was surprised to learn that safeco wont insure self modified vans. I finished my conversion and went to them to up the coverage to cover at least some of the increased value of the rig - penthouse, etc. Not only will they not increase my coverage, they cancelled me.
Thanks
Aaron

Re: Insuring a homebuild

Not homebuilt, but Progressive insures mine for agreed value. The catch is that in the event of a claim I have to prove original cost- a receipt for plywood might not get you very far.

I have a state farm policy
When i get off my butt, and get an appraisal from a proper guy
we will add a rider for "stated value"
then i am good to go
