I doubt even the large tank would be all that noticable sine its at axle level. I've had over 3,000 pounds on the hitch ball, and easily over 1,000 pounds on the hitch rack (sometimes with a trailer behind that). Don't forget that filling up the stock 5th row with four adults can approach 800 pounds (or more depending how unskinny your friends are).

I didn't think of that when I talked to them but I will ask next week when I call back. They didn't ask any questions about fuel type but did take the time to be sure I wasn't in California. But is there a difference in the tanks themselves (diesel v gas) anyway or is it just the filler neck opening size?

Whit, another question for you please. Aero told me the replacement 'quigley' tank hangs a bit lower than stock. They sent me a picture but I can't tell from the angle how much further it sticks down. Is it lower than the body of the van and how much lower than stock tank?

thanks.

Re: larger fuel tank?

It does hang down but not quite as low as the transfer case that's right in front of it. It's really similar to one of the 46 gallon Transfer Flow tanks in that regard, probably about equal height to the top of the axles. I can snap you a picture if you'd like.

You'll need to get the x-members too, in front and behind the tank.

Witoke, here are a couple of pics, hope they help. As you can see I'm no photographer.

Thanks Whit, they are certainly good enough for me to figure out what I needed to know and better than the fotos I got from Aerotank... Appreciate it.

Re: larger fuel tank?

Looks about the same as my T-F tank. But the T-F tank has a bevel at the front edge to help get over any obstacle it might hit.

Re: larger fuel tank?

Mike, that's exactly right. I've had a good look at the TF unit and that is really the only noticeable difference in the way it sits under the van.

I think the TF tank needs a little skid plate there. I wouldn't want to hit anything with it.

BTW the newer TF tanks use a thicker gauge steel (not sure of changeover date on that). My original 2002 tank (that rusted out) was the thinner gauge.
