Re: Lola, The Petroleum Falcon

We're headed out this weekend for our first camping trip with the van. We don't have the beds in yet, so we'll be sleeping in tents. Hubs has never driven her, so it will be a nice getting acquainted trip. We'll be joining a couple of other families, so good for the kid, too.

Lola's baby pics are in my gallery, and I'll get some with the top up over the weekend.

Trip report to Figueroa Mountain. We'll be going back there.

Re: Lola, The Petroleum Falcon

I'm looking for a set of bolts & brackets for a 92-07 Ford bench seat so I can mount the platform bed supports I got from LeadDoggy.

Anybody got a spare set from swapping out a seat? If so, let me know how much you want for them.

Here's my thread (with pic) in the Classifieds: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15564

Now ain't that sexy?

Re: Lola, The Petroleum Falcon

well first off, happy birthday! mine was just last weekend

second, thats awesome about the brackets. may not be sexy in theory now, but once the hubs can get the bed made and the sexy part can be an option later (or immediately, lol)

....almost as sexy as asking for a chainsaw or a welder......or perhaps a winch.

Geesh---just after finally learning to NEVER give a woman a gift with a cord one comes along who wants seat brackets----its maddening I say, maddening!

Indeed Happy Birthday Dia , may all your brackets work perfectly the first time and the plywood be flat too.

Re: Lola, The Petroleum Falcon

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone!

We found a set of brackets for 15 bucks on Ebay, and the hubs supplemented his gift with a liberal supply of coffee and chocolate. I knew there was a reason I married him.

Brackets should be here in a couple of days, and then we get to mess about with plywood. Hopefully one of our stores will have the good stuff.

Re: Lola, The Petroleum Falcon

Bolts (thanks, SCBrian!) and brackets have arrived! We don't have the plywood yet for the platform, but I'm hoping to get the supports installed this weekend. Once the supports are in, I'll be able to get a handle on the size and shape of our storage space, which means I'll be able to get the van into some semblance of perma-ready.

Ideally, I'd like us to be able to grab our backpacks, stop at the grocery store on the way out of town and hit the road without the massive packing that tent camping used to entail. Doing so means I have need to have my gear sorted, packed so it's stable and won't rattle, etc., and I can't really do that until the platform supports are in because I have to see how things fit.

With our previous camping vehicles - an Izuzu Amigo followed by my Prius - I had things down to a Tetris-level science. The van is just one more challenge.
