Looking for shock recommendations
I’ll add that the designated terms “comfort” and “HD” that Bilstein chose to use is at best misleading. While we all consider our rigs to be HD, it’s not really “light duty”, “comfort” or “heavy duty”, it has more to do with the proper valving for each of the applications.
There’s some other threads where people have mentioned how hard the ride quality was after installing the motorhome “HD” version of these shocks on the rear of their Econoline vans, but then again some do like them. I’d say that they would be better suited to a fully built out EB van than a lighter build on a RB van.
I went through the same dilemma years ago when I was shopping for new shocks, before the Agile tuned Fox shocks. I called up Bilstein to go over the options, I was pretty sure I didn’t want anything designated as “comfort” going on my fully built out 10,000lb. SMB. Sure enough, the tech convinced me otherwise and explained the difference in each of the 2 shocks proper application. I told him what I thought of their naming, he agreed. I found the “comfort” shocks certainly did not turn my rig into “a sofa on wheels”.
