Expo Vans / Michael Gabriel - arguably the gold standard in van conversion & related 4x4 information. Certainly generous in sharing knowledge.

Any progress? We have been toying around with idea of cutting the back of our van off and building a habitation that mates to the cab. We have only seen it in smaller rigs and none of those had swivel seats to really take advantage of the cab. It really is a great idea and can optimize livability with size. We are currently right at 6 meters from shackle mounts to deluxe box and would prefer to extend the inside space and remove the rear Aluminess bumper, moving the spare back under the vehicle, and shaving a little length off. Our van as it is outfitted is the same length as many Iveco conversions we've come across but they have much more living space.
After 7 years of overland travel, we'd prefer a fulltime hightop over a poptop. We only shipped the van twice so being able to fit into a container gave us great piece of mind but for the remaining 6 years and 10 months we sacrificed the living space. That being said, any habitation should have the angled rear end. We managed to drag our hitch many more times than we care to admit. A fully boxed body would have resulted in pure carnage, something many others experienced...one ripping his rear mounted black tank off at least 3 times (that we know of).
Oh, we did meet a French family that separated the body of their American built class C from the cab in Argentina. We had driven the same route and I was amazed they even attempted it, let alone completed it. It was a 28 footer, can't remember the make but it was one of the common mass produced ones like Coachman, Fleetwood, whatever.

I can let you know in a couple weeks how they are mounted. I'm pulling up the floors on my 12ft SRW box truck.

I'm impressed you're dragging hitch on an RB.
Anders at Total Composites might be worth reaching out to. He's fielded E350 questions from enough people now where he might know the path forward. The subframe was, and continues to be an issue. I think there's a guy in AZ (Uintah adventure co or something like that) that has a subframe on his agenda but TBD if it'll ever happen.
