Boywonder, just a thought, I do not have a pop top but can't you also use a carriage bolt. If need be grind down the square part of the head or locate some without the square lockout.

I have good luck with the 6000 I think it is, contact glue in a silver squeeze tube sold at Walmart in the duct tape section.
I use it to mend and reattach automotive rubber weather stripping.
Excess cleans off with kerosene or diesel or just rubs off.
For large tears, to hold together till it dries, I’ll place a piece of scotch tape right on top of the glue and pull the tape off after a day.

Thanks, everybody. I’ve ordered a couple things. I do have the feeling I’m gonna glue that thing on there and it’s NEVER coming off. There’s good and bad to that.
