Need to Remove an AMA window from a Sprinter

Hi:

I own an unfinished 2020 Sprinter cargo van with an AMA full-size slider window in the midsection driver's side area. I want to remove that and replace it with a CR Laurence T-vent window. How to do this? After the removal of the window, would there be any major obstacles to fitting the CR Laurence in that space? In short, would it work?

Thanks!

If the second window is bigger than the first then easy. If not then not easy at all. Major bodywork required.

Pics might help.

If you are talking about how easy the actual removal and installation of the window itself is (not including modifying the opening) then it's pretty simple. Most have a flange around the inside that removes with phillips screws, some have a rubber gasket, some are glued/sealed in.

Thanks,86 Scotty. This window is adhesive-retained. Any ideas about removing glued windows? I'm also hoping for info on the footprint comparisons between the AMA slider and the CRL T-vented windows.

Hi Brian:
Using paging@jwa, a web search takes me to a semi-relevant site. Can you clarify? I'm still a minnow. Thanks.

The AMA windows are glue-ins while the CRL windows clamp-in. You can remove glue-in windows and, once removed, you could theoretically install a clamp-in, but only somebody that happens to have both types in-hand or knows the dimensions would be able to tell you if the cut outs are such that you'll be able to do the swap without potentially having to fight with a cut out that is too large.

I am curious to know why you want to swap windows?

Thanks for the response. Yes, I'm trying to find a source that can outline the footprints of both windows before undertaking such a task. Why am I removing the window? Because the slider has a vertical 'bar' that cuts into the view from what will be the galley. Gotta keep the cook happy, rule #1. A T-vent has a lower horizontal bar, so much more out of the way. And more importantly, the AMA slider view-from-inside uses only about 80% of the total available aperture due to a blocked-out section just aft of the slider assembly. That's just the way it's made. Here's the inside view:
