Re: new project-off road trailer

Is the electrical 12V or 24V?

Just curious.

I think it's 24v because it was made to tow behind the 2.5 ton trucks in WWII, but i'm not for sure. It also has a key turn knob on the side that turns off the lights and switches on the "black out lights" that I guess could only be seen from the air.

Re: new project-off road trailer

Nice! I'm considering picking up a M101A2 trailer. I'm not sure what this one is. It looks like it may have been modified once.

The pintle and lunette hitch does offer more articulation but I've heard they bang around a lot when you are rolling down the road. I would consider replacing the connection with one of these:

Re: new project-off road trailer

I put the AT hitch on my SMB trailer. It is well made, unlimited articulation and solid. I don't remember but I think it was limited to 2500 or 3000#.

That's sweet. I will definitely look into that.
My trailer is the G-518. The tongue has been change so I will build a new one of those when I redo the trailer.

Re: new project-off road trailer

My bad, the MaxCoupler is rated for 6000#

It was the SMB hitch that was rated for 2000# and the trailer rated at 2500#. Go figure. One of the reasons I upgraded to the MaxCoupler.
