Just caught up with your thread. Clean build. Everything you need, not much you don’t. I love the homemade door talon. How is the Surco tire carrier working out?

Tire carrier is OK....It's a compromise for sure. The right door just clears the spare and it does prevent the left door from opening to the full width. Obviously the Aluminess is the ideal option and superior, but $850 is a really tough pill to swallow. I wish there was an option in between the two.

Nice build. I'll be on the lookout for you around town. I'm in Asheville too.

My van, if you see me, stop and say hey!

Nice buildout.
I too have an E150 built out and wondered how the 265 tires fitted. I do not have a lift and run stock steel rims.
Do the tire rub on the front at any point, did you have to trim out anything to get them to fit?
The range of tires is a challenge if you don't want off-road rugged. I do almost all highway/paved with a little loose gravel. I would like to refit with LTX ms but not available in either 225 or245 but available in 265.
Is the additional weight noticeable?

They fit perfectly with absolutely no rubbing. Haven't noticed anything in regards to weight and haven't driven enough to check MPGs yet. The ride in general is so much better!! The only challenge is the spare. I have a aftermarket hitch so there's no way it could fit in the stock location. Not sure if it would fit without the hitch.

Do you have pictures of how the carrier fits with the tire?

I'm staying on 16's and was wondering if the door could handle the weight of a spare, especially when open.

Hey you go spazegun. Two things regarding the Surco. Definitely need to put a good size wash and a lock washer on inside of the door to help spread the load. Also I drilled a new hole to mount the tire slightly more centrally on the door. This allows the right door to clear the tire and you can still open the left door 'enough'. The hole I drilled is below the oval hole in the second pic.

I can’t wait to see your finished product. We just started this process. Just bought a 2012 E-250 with 68,000 miles. We are so excited and my brian is full of ideas. Ripped everything out yesterday and getting ready to start the flooring.
