Penthouse bed - one piece or two?

I have noticed that many penthouse beds are constructed in two pieces instead of one. Looks like a 40/60 split. Can you [people who has and use penthouse beds] shed some light on the pros and cons of a one piece bed assembly verses the two piece??

If you have a penthouse top you definately want a two piece as the larger piece will raise up with the top and allow alot of head room when not sleeping.

You can also take them out, stack one on the other, in extreme hot I've used the smaller rear piece as a vertical air to direct airflow. I should say "attempt" to direct airflow.

One person can move either piece. They are easier to move if you want to slide the bed to the middle or front of the van.

If you store the bigger one while you travel the second makes a nice big shelf.

We always keep ours in (safest, cleanest place at the moment) but the PO said he never put the front in because you get a few extra inches of headroom when the top is down.

I believe a full length bed is an option if you have a isle the length of your plan. This enables you reach both ends of the bed when attaching to the ceiling. I have a full length one, it hangs up out of the way, I guess if I were taller it might be a problem. I have never found myself wishing it were split, but I've only used the full piece one.

We made our own penthouse bed.....it is in 3 pieces. We keep one in all the time as a shelf. The other 2 pieces only go along when we have the grandkids with us.

Good point, with the 50 there is no real need to remove the bed behind the bench seat.

I have the one piece, which raises with the penthouse top. I also use that spongy NASA foam pad with its bed sheet cover that is cut to fit the one piece penthouse bed.

I think the one piece is overall longer.

Don't know if the two pieces raises with the penthouse but I like the option of it going up together also.
I'm also amazed me how it's holding up weight but I'm keeping my eye on it all the time just in case. With me and my kids + the foam bedding, other bedding, the weight must be up to 300lbs on the one piece. So far so good.
