Quick question about casters

Hi --

Yeah. I know this is probably very elementary, but I don't want to get it wrong.

If I have four casters, each rated at 40-lbs, then does that mean that four of them on the bottom of a small storage box can carry 160-lbs? Or would the entire storage box stilll be limited to 40-lbs?

Thanks.

According to http://www.shepherdcasters.com/caster-basics.html, your 4 casters can carry 160lbs.

Re: Quick question about casters

tested that I have little casters under my home-made gaucho bed... but never really thought more about it...
after calculating mine are rated at 80kg per caster, so that is 320kg for four ie about 700 lbs must be some link with the distance between the casters and how the weight is spread over the element (bed/cabinet/etc...)
