Re: Swiss van for the time in the US

Greydawg,

You are correct, I tinted the rear windows and will put insulation in between the window and the side panel.
At this stage, the plywood is used as a template, I plan on using some lightweight composit panels.
Just getting the samples now.

I am planning to replace the aft side windows with fiberglass parts but not right now. That will b e for a futur upgrade.

Andrew

That is the fun part for sure. I did mine last week and it came out great. although the look on my wife's face when she realized I had just cut a big hole in the top of "her" Van. It was the perfect time for me to say see honey you weren't listening when I told you what I was doing, but I know better than to say that. I do feel better that I got to tell you guys.
Thanks
Ron

Are you going to cut his refrigerator in half too?

If Andrew buys a NORCOLD, then yes, I'll cut it up, right after I finish going all Pulp Fiction with it.

Re: Swiss van for the time in the US

Hummm, might be time to hide the super sawzall... if the Pulp Fiction mode is activated... don't know where it will end...

I went a few steps further so here are the pictures...

I worked on changing the factory bench support into my own brew in oder to move it backwards a little and be able to tilt it forwards.

Welding the pieces bolted to the upside down bench, aligning and protecting...

Done

And I needed to remove the rivets holding the locking system that I reused.

I didn't have the good way of working for the first one so the thumb didn't help much but was on the way of the hammer

The original support

The modified one in place

And all this to be able to:

It isn't finished, I now need to finish welding the base and test it once the swivel bases come.
Then see how can I fasten the bed on the back of the seat.

If you wonder what I have in mind, it will be something like this:

More to come...
