Re: Swiss van for the time in the US

Ow, my eyes!

So seats swivel, bench folds forward until resting on front seat bases, so the back is flat, mattress goes over seat? Or is that section of mattress going to be attached to the back of the chair?

Did you remember to account for the height the swivels will add to the seat base height?

Mattress will be attached to the back of the bench and no I didn't take in account that the swivel will raise the seat but I wanted to raise them anyhow so that is good news... and will see if bench rests on front seat base but not planned as such.

Re: Swiss van for the time in the US

After having good time at the OVEXPO and a loooong drive back...
Here is the progress of the works.

Temporary mounted the floor

The tool I used to install the rivet nuts in the floor

The swivel bases have arrived, decided to take apart the cab floor and doors to insulate all I could find...

Once all installed, I had to move the bench 12 inches backwards to increase the space, didn't plan enough but it looks good now...

Hey Andrew,
Looks like I'm not the only person who's hard at it. Really good looking welding. Wish I had your skills in that area.

I know what you mean. Things always look different on paper.

Re: Swiss van for the time in the US

Had Andrew employed the tried and true "De Minimis Method" to his build project, this would not have happened. See, the DMM dictates that all projects require a reasonable amount of beer consumption during the process. This measurably slows project progress, but it gives the builder time to actually have the components in-hand before the commencement of cutting and drilling activities. The benefits of the DMM are incalculable. No, literally -Hard to add 2+2 correctly by the end of the day if the DMM is employed correctly.

Good stuff! I'm enjoying following everyone's work. Looks great.

Quick question for you - where did you order the front seat swivels from? Are you happy with them?

Cheers,
Mike.

I can only agree with this method
Swiss build V2 was far better after I understood the basics

Note the beer on the new underfloor
