Rumpl blanket window coverings

Hi all,

Awhile back I snagged a few Rumpl blankets that were are close out at a outlet store and decided to make them into window coverings. I sewed in small rare earth magnets to be able to attach to the window frames. They are warm, super light weight and compress down to next to nothing

Great idea! If only I could find some for a discounted price.

Thank you for the comments! I’m hoping to have enough material to do all but the large rear side windows.

Here’s a picture of the window covering installed

Grandma often would say, "learning to sew will make you a better welder". Truth was she was really good a both.

Ah yes, the grand old sewing machine! I’ve made a lot of things for both house and van. I even taught Hubby to sew,
and it was well worth the effort! Sometimes what we need is not available at all....and this is the only option. I now have assorted matching pockets to store nearly all the stuff I need quickly, especially since mine has no glove box for tools and papers! The pockets solved all those problems....and also saves money. They look “ built in” since it matches the upholstery fabric perfectly. Good luck!

You could launch a nice little business making them for Sportsmobile owners. Bet there’d be lots of buyers and only a few template sizes.

This is a nice idea. I get a bit annoyed with the storage of our sun shades. Off brand rumpl blankets can be had for a fraction of the price at big box stores and Sams/Costco
