securing a dog crate in van

Hi. I am about to get a dog. I plan on transporting the dog in a kennel. I am looking for any and all suggestions on the best way to secure the kennel so it doesnt move. I am thinking about a ratchet system of sorts. I have a floor plan that is a modified EB50. What is the name of the piece I need to put in the floor (the piece the straps attach to)?

Thanks,
Will

I am very impressed by the serious and respectful nature of the forum. All this opportunity and not a single Mitt Romney 'dog on the roof' joke.

Don't do that, you'll never get elected to the Presidency - ask Mitt.

Re: securing a dog crate in van

One of my first introductions to New Mexico was a bit like that last clip. This was in the late '80's when we moved here, coming down from Colorado and investigating each town we came across for living possibilities. We were coming down the steep and very windy road from Angel Fire to Taos when we saw an old turquoise 1940's stake-bed truck, grossly overloaded with firewood, creaking and swaying way too fast down the hill with an English Bull Terrier in a big divot banged into the cab roof. It was quite a sight, the Bull Terrier was standing up, leaning into the corners like a sidecar passenger, ears plastered to his head and a huge grin on his face. Clearly the dog was having fun though I often wondered how many more of those trips it managed to survive. Dog claws don't hold that well on metal, even if it is rusty.
