Short time lurker with questions

Hello all, I've been lurking here for a month or more getting many ideas for a build up. I recently bought a 2002 Chevy Express cargo van with Quigley conversion. I drive 200 miles round trip to get to my job and thought a van conversion would allow me to stay at my work during night shifts and bad weather. I live in South Dakota and work in Wyoming.

The van was used by a cabinet shop in Utah and has a few dings and dents but is, for the most part, in good shape with 80,000 miles on an 8.1 Liter engine and a recently rebuilt transmission.

I plan on insulating the van, installing a fold up bed, furnace and sink/stove. I don't need anything too elaborate for extended camping as my wife and I have a 1983 Airstream trailer we love camping in. The one ton van, I believe will pull the 31' trailer with no problem, and once we get to an area we like can be used for exploring with an occasional over night or two before returning to the Airstream.

I'll post pictures as the build progresses and would welcome and comments or recommendations.

Rick

Re: Short time lurker with questions

Looking forward to hearing more about your build. Just before the holidays I bought an '02 Express with the 8.1L and a Salem Kroger conversion. I'll be likely doing a slow build out myself but for now am having fun with 12 passenger carrying.

Here's mine from the ad when I bought it.

Re: Short time lurker with questions

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I can use all the warmth I can get as it is supposed to get down to about -25 F tonight. By the way, my cargo van came with 3 Adrian Steel shelves and a bulkhead. If anyone has need of them let me know.
