Side door step: full length or half?

Hi well I am currently building my V.2 Chevy express interior and I have a question:
What is your use for the little storage near the side door step? I have the choice of retaining the full side step or making a little storage and extending the floor plan a little. You can see what I am talking about on Kcrain's build (hope you don't mind me using your pic)... the difference being I will have a bench seat where the rear captain chairs are... edit: the Chevy Express sliding door seems to be wider that the Ford's swing door opening...

Thanx for any thought or advice on this feature that I have seen in many Van-RVs...

My 4D house battery is in that location, mounted from below through an opening in the floor. It is inaccessible from the top.

See oval door below our kitchen box. I use it for some tools and spare parts. I was planning on using a large interior storage area for all my important stuff but my wife took it over for food.

We use that space for the dinette table column and for the folded awning crank.

I would extend it, I am actually in the process of doing the same extension on my van step. Saab, I saw in your previous build you installed the base wood and also the flooring. Can I ask where you got the flooring (grey with circles throughout? Thanks!

I roll up a entry door floor mat and stick it in there when not in use. It's one of those plastic type that help to clean out dirt from boot cleats.

Thanx for your replies, I have decided to keep it and am currently thinking of what to slide in there, I was wondering if I could slide my "Toilet-Tent" in there... will have to test
