My wife and I are exact opposite on the noise level at night, in our full time rig (our 43ft toyhauler) we pipe a 4 hour audio file I created from a 1 minute recording of our favorite river, this is then looped seamlessly through our in-rig sound system. We sleep like babies. When we are camping and are unable to hear the river I've even turned on the sound system in the van with the same recording!

But I digress : )
In our 43footer we use one of the oil filled radiant heaters on most cold days and it is a few feet away from the sectional we hang out on. It cools down relatively fast, and if one turned it off it would be cool enough for safe travel by the time the hitch was set and blocks/cables/plumbing was stored.
