Re: Slow and Low

Well staying true to title the build has been slow...

Here is a little update. I have taken out the entire interior and am working on an EB50 style build. Thus far I have built a seat/bed and added headrests, I made a swivel seat base from an old base I got from a local guy and added 4x Goal Zero Boulder 30 panels to the roof. I start the interior build in the next week and think I can bang it out in a day or two.

I am still loving the build out, but have been fighting electrical gremlins for a while...

I am super excited to head to the Utah desert in April for a climbing, rafting, mtb, beer drinking good time and then a 3 week family trip to Yosemite this summer!

Re: Slow and Low

Here are pics of the seat/bed. I just added the leather headrests yesterday and I think they will work well. The back of the seat was a bit low and I was worried about neck injuries so I added them. I think they are out of a fancy Audi which means the van has so much more value and curb appeal than ever before!

The bed was out of a full size conversion that I had to cut down and re upholster. And while be bench was inexpensive the upholstery was ridiculous. And truth be told I spent as much redoing as as I would have buying one from a discount site...

Re: Slow and Low

Seat/bed looks great. Is it just screwed to the wood floor below?

Re: Slow and Low

contender-

No I pulled the hardware form the original van the seat was mounted in. Once I had the seat marked I drilled the holes through the floor and then cut a piece of sheet steel 4"x8" and tacked it to the exterior floor. I then ran grade 8 bolts through them and then through big washers underneath.

I got the idea by looking at other aftermarket converted vans.

It is definitely overkill, but It makes me happy. Oh and be sure to clear the drill path before you drill, not too much to mess up but it would be no good if you pierced the fuel tank or some of the wiring.

Sweet build... Something I'm trying to do to ours. Simple, yet super functional! Keep on!

Re: Slow and Low

Here are some updated pics of the build. I am getting more and more stoked on it as I work through it all.

The plan was a simple eb-50 and then see what happens. I used baltic birch and maple to build the cabinets. As always it is a work in progress but I am getting closer and am eager for the summer of traveling!

A few more pics in the gallery and I'll keep you posted as I keep this thing rolling.

Re: Slow and Low

No headliner, or are you going to be cutting a hole in that roof?

Looking great! Keep it up!
How are you securing the cabinets to the walls and or ceiling?
