Thanks for that bit of info---I'm not familiar with the cutaway chassis. It makes sense they'd not have the spare carrier though.

For Christmas we are going to Joshua Tree camping (2days) then a cabin at Lake Arrowhead (4days). Since the kids don't want to take the Prius and everyone doesnt fit in the Ferrari we are taking the van. I am not ready and wont have the time to get the interior done so I needed a temp solution for seating since I only have 3 seats in the van and there are 4 of us. I thought back to my childhood of sitting on a tool box in my fathers van and or sitting on top of a pile of freshly cut wood along side a chainsaw and cooler of beer in the back of his truck bed but then I realized it is not 1974 and I cant legally do that to the kids so I started looking for a bench seat. I got this for a deal and the more I look at it I like it. I am starting to rethink my interior layout. This is either the bliss or agony of building your own van, you can change anything at anytime.

Yeah but *I* was around in the 60's when all that craze first began!

Its kinda cool seeing it hip once again but this time a lot more options.......AND it doesn't automatically cast you as a narco-deviant!

Re: SOCAL build

I have been reading your thread for 2 hrs. tonight. Really nice work and you have done a beautiful job. Probably would take a pro a few min. to do his thing and run south..... I installed a Revelco security system. "Loaded with peace of mind." I remember a story few yrs ago...think it was O'd Yellow. A 100k new van. Lady left parked in a food store parking lot, went in for about 15 mins., came back out.... gone.. Never to see it again. I think I spent $500. I can leave my keys in the van, take the plug... It will not run. It would have to be hauled off by a wrecker to be missing.

Re: SOCAL build

A poor man's Revelco can be had simply by adding a switch interrupting the shift lock solenoid operation. Even if the engine could be started it couldn't be moved no matter what! (I had this revelation once upon a time when that fuse blew---talk about a quick panic before realizing what might have happened!)

I like the idea of the Revelco and all things considered an installed price of $500 isn't bad at all. When I first discovered them they were very insistent it was NOT a DIY project (BS) and extra "keys" couldn't be obtained. Seems they've come a long way since.

Great idea though!
