Re: SOCAL build

Got the flooring done this weekend. Pretty easy after reading all the flooring post.

I have seen this bolted, glued and screwed down. Anyone have problems with screwing the floor down with #8 1" screws?

Re: SOCAL build

Nice. Wish I knew shower came in black... Good luck I remember the feeling cutting that First hole....Lots of deep breathes.. Just a tip make a template the size and tape on then step back and take a look. Contoured lines of van are deceiving.

Re: SOCAL build

I have read "Teeots" window install about 1000 times and have a few friends that will be on hand to help. Hoping I don't mess this up.

Re: SOCAL build

Only 2 out of 5 got done today, the big window was a lot of work and took a lot more time than I planned on.

Template, three reference holes and align on the outside.

Use bolts to hold template in place save a little time, this allowed us to mask behind without drawing on the van before masking.

Re: SOCAL build

Lots of double checking things and lots of trimming on the inside. There are two layers of metal that will separate but in order to get the trim plate to seal you have to cut away the metal from the inside. Easiest way was a angle grinder and tin snips. Just to be safe we took the piece of metal we cut out and stuck it between the two layers so we did not cut into the outside of the van. Also used a sawzall for most cutting since a jigsaw did not have enough length in the blade to go through some of the areas.
A friend of mine did the cutting, I think it is easier when it is not your van, that's probably why he is smiling and I was stressing.

Re: SOCAL build

Primer, sealant inside and out then ready for install. Used #8 1 inch, had the 3/4" just incase.
