Talk to me about bike racks

I want to mount a bike rack on my gear boxes and I need the experts advise.
Show me your racks and give me the advice I need.

Aluminess has made custom racks that hold bikes above the boxes....

Here's one that may be for sale used in Colorado....member Simplesez may still have this one:

...or I imagine that Aluminess would be happy to build you one.....

EDIT: Looks like Simplesez sold the swingarms.....

I have a hitch extender with a Thule t2 rack that works out great for us. I'll snap a picture tomorrow and post.

Yes I am the lucky owner because it didn't work on his rig... I really like it a lot too.

Here's a link to adding bike rack carriers to your aluminess deluxe box.

Here's another one: http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/for...ads-12220.html

Also of note, Aluminess is no longer making the bike rack version. For awhile they would build their swingarm to whatever specs you wanted for attaching racks above a box. But too many people were overloading the arm and they were getting a lot of failures. 150lb is the max weight. At least that's what I was told at the Expo last year.

I'm quite happy with the 1UpUSA trays on mine and if I need to carry two more bikes I use a hitch extender with another 1Up rack.

I was checking out the 1UpUSA rack when I rode the other night.....two cars parked next to me both had them.......things of beauty!! nicest I've ever seen.......all machined parts, stainless hardware.....

When I got home I checked out the website, pricey but really nice.

For whatever reason, over the past few months my neighbors have given me bike racks.....a Yakima 4 bike one, a fancy Thule two bike tray style, and just a few days ago another neighbor gave me an old Hollywood 4 bike rack.

I should sell all of these and apply the $$ to a 1Up!!!
