Mysterious black box

Needed to remove the speaker behind the drivers seat because it would be in the way of the cabinet planned for the location. When the reflectix was pulled back a mysterious black box appeared. Any ideas on what it controls?

That van has factory RKE and that is where it should be, so unless there's another box there that looks like the RKE brain then I'd say that's what it is. Easy way to tell, unplug those fuses and see if your RKE or PDL still works. One thing's for sure, I didn't put it there and I guarantee you the guy I sold it to didn't put it there.

RKE? PDL? Those are new terms to me. What do the terms stand for?

Thanks for the definitions.

Pulled the fuses, one at a time. When they were both out the PDL and RKE both worked. Could hear clicking inside the black box when the RKE was triggered so the box is for that system.

Will do some more testing with the fuses out to see what is not working.

Larrie, I had to dig deep in my feeble memory for a few but I think I have your answer. The van came to me with 2 fold down DVD/TV monitor things which were both removed when the pop top was done. It had a big control box under the front bench which would be very near those fuses. I bet that is defunct wiring for the DVD/VHS hifi widget box that was there. I would pull the fuses and carry on without worry. If something doesn't work you'll figure it out. They aren't OEM Ford though because they would be under the dash or hood if they were, and all CCV related fuses are in the passenger side rear wall.

Hope that helps
