Thanks for the info, Ben!

Vantasi - Travelling Update

Hey Fellow Vanners!
My apologies for disappearing and leaving this thread hanging and questions unanswered.
It’s been 10 weeks since heading out of Minnesota and it’s been pretty damn great. So far we drove through and spent time exploring Montana, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. All wonderful places with an overwhelming amount of things to see and do.
Now we’re on the central part of the Oregon coast heading south. With a bit of sunshine I’ve finally taken the initiative to put together a picture tour of the van’s interior. Check it out at the YouTube link below.
And the rest of our adventures on Instagram: schmutzandhonig (my girlfriend and I both post travel pics to it)
boris_imo (my own dedicated a bit more to riding).

Van Tour-

The Ultimate MX Hauler is working out really well even after lots of forest service roads littered with rocks, washboard and drainage ditches. While it does fit a bit sloppy into a receiver and the platform itself has some movement it’s a solid carrier.
I ended up schimming the receiver end with thin aluminum and then used two bolts to secure it rather than just one regular pin.

While my motorcycle does clear the spare tire on the carrier I modified the whole setup. I made a hitch riser bringing the carrier up and in towards the van so that the motorcycle is tucked in as far as it can be to the spare tire and cargo box. I brought the whole thing up about 7” too to gain as much clearance as possible. I have to lift my KTM EXC350 up onto the carrier.

After the first month I lost all fears of this setup failing and seeing my motorcycle tumbling down the road behind the van. The amount of movement the carrier does have I think is good. If it were too rigid or solid I think things would fail from stress.

Great video. I like your layout. I'm struggling with my design a bit and this gives me some new ideas.
