Well I had a chance on Wednesday to take a drive to central Oregon so I did...
Passing through Mt Hood -

Somewhere in between Hood and Bend -

Once I got back home safely, progress continued...

I got the interior structuring out of the way of where the passenger side rear window is going to go..

And I also got my front windshield replaced! No more cracks!

Yep, I am almost done with the install. I will put some new photos up as soon as its done.

These wipers are awesome, its the first thing I do since living up here in Portland is swap out whatever wipers are on the vehicle.

Thanks! Now I just need to make the interior more comfortable for the family. Its just a brute at the moment and my wife isn't a big fan.

Rear Window Install...

Alright so as pretty much everyone on here knows, I really wanted some rear windows on this van to keep my son happy. He is only 15 months old and is still rear facing so he was tired of staring at walls, I dont blame him.

Huge thanks to Ray (1der) for hooking me up with his price for the rear window, I really appreciate the help. Another huge thanks to Brian up in Seattle for picking up the window for me and hanging onto it until we could meet up. Lastly, thanks to MG for telling me to just do it already and giving me the confidence (shove) to get it done.

As you can see in the post above, I had removed the interior structure around where the window was going to go so I just had the bare wall to cut through from the outside. Once that was done I traced the window onto the cardboard box that it came on and cut it out for a template. Once I had the template cut out I placed it on the inside where I wanted it and drilled a single hole in the middle top of the template/outer wall as a guide.

Next was to position the template on the outside of the van to trace so I knew where to cut with the jigsaw and a fresh metal blade.

Traced -

Now it was time to drill a hole large enough for the jigsaw blade to fit through and start cutting. I used duct tape to try to keep the window positioned in the frame as much as possible and reduce vibrations as I cut.

Window Hole -

Then a couple test fits, some minor trimming and painting, some 3m Butyl tape to seal it up and I popped the window in the hole.

Once the interior ring was clamped down I slowly went around and tightened each one until they were all snug and the window is installed! Its makes the rear of the van seem huge and allows a ton of natural light.

I only wanted to install one window on the passenger side because I plan to do a bed/cabinets on the other side and figured with the awning and side doors opening to the passenger side its probably where most of the action would be anyway. A huge plus to installing this window that I didn't even think of was that I now have barely any blind spots on this van.

Finished pics of the Dog -

Tons of light in there now!

I still go back and forth about adding new windows. But I think when I end up with a pop-up, I will want it dark/private "downstairs" so the kids sleep better and it's quieter. Maybe if anything, I'll remove my small driver's side window and cut a huge hole for a window like that conversion van had, so my kids have a better view when driving.

Cheers and happy New Year!!

Thanks!

I remember when I first saw this van for sale I was super excited that it was a cargo, rear ac, v10. I sure wish it was 2wd when I got it as it would have saved me a good amount of headaches but its all turned out pretty well.

The window wasn't too bad, more time consuming than anything else, and the anticipation kills...
