Maybe that was a feature Ford added to reduce wind resistance at speed......haha. I had a toyota that would do the same thing on the freeway.

This is high on my list. Could you please confirm that I need to look for F150 mirrors, and perhaps explain in a little more detail the mods needed to install them? Thanks.

Let's be clear, these are not from an F150, they are made for the 03-up Ford Econoline vans. The retrofit to the older 02-prior 3 bolt door requires removal of one of the 4 cast aluminum studs and enlargement of the three remaining holes in the door. M6-1.00x20mm bolts and large 1/4" bore fender washers hold the mirror to the door solid. I had to swap the power plugs on both sets I have done, but this is easy as the ground pin has two wires and the other two pins each have one wire.

I added the power doorlocks/windows/mirrors to Nobbie's van using OEM components for the most part. That was tricky to make work and appear as seamless like it came from the factory.

I got mine from ebay. I think they were like $160 shipped.

If you're patient and shop around a bit on eBay sooner or later a nice set (or singles) extendable powered tow mirror will pop up there, possibly gently used or new OEM. Well worth the wait and possibly less money than the new aftermarket stuff.

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

Got the seat bases installed from the group buy manager by 1der. These things have an excellent fit and finish and work awesome. For those with the floor mounted transfer case shifter, it needs a slight tweak towards the center of the van and it works great. We also lubed up the bushings for the shifter assembly when it was out so we are good to go there as well. Big thanks to Ray for making this happen and for all the troubles he went through!

Would it be possible to enlarge the hole enough to make a brass bushing for the bolt to go thru?
That would last much longer and keep the bracket nice enough to just have to replace the bushing only someday.

I believe Dorman makes a kit that comes with the hardware that does what you are describing.
