Tire Carrier Question

2011 Ford E250 RB Cargo

Today I scored this tire carrier for FREE on a curb alert Craigslist ad.

Ad was short but had keywords like aluminess, ford, tire carrier and free. It was about a 20 minute drive - so I went and grabbed it this AM.

I did get a little info out of the guy (via email) in that he upgraded to something different, but kept all of the associated mounting brackets, hardware, etc and just swapped out the arm.

I don't know what Ford he pulled it off of, if it is in any way compatible with my van or if it is even aluminess. Photos of them look different and there is no badge on it, but it is light and seems well made.

see photos and let me know what you think it is -Was at least worth getting out of my house at the moment, and a little bit of a thrill to see if it would still be on the curb when I pulled up.

Thanks
JoeBob

That definitely looks like an Aluminess swing arm that was made for their bumper.

In order to use that you'll need either some fabrication skills or an Aluminess bumper that utilizes that latch style/pivot placement.

It's Aluminess, but not from their stand alone carrier. It's made for the the Aluminess bumper, combo. Sell it.

Doesn't look like a swingarm for the Aluminess E350 bumper. Mine was installed in 2017 and it only had two of those hinge supports, not three. Mine is a round tube version like the one pictured, not the newer square tube swingarms.

Maybe it goes to a Sprinter bumper.

Can’t help with the bumper, but wanted to say Howdy Neighbor . Nice seeing some Santa Cruzers in here!

I picked up an old Aluminess box and swing arm a few years back and had to make a post and latch to mount it, also had to make the storage bin in the center to have a place to mount the latch. It was a bit of work but was made a little easier as I already had a homemade bumper I could add these items onto.
