Re: Updates as of 4-29-14.......Fiberine Top Yellowing?

I hope you prevail in this dispute as I'd be prone to hold my ground as well in a similar instance. From what could have been a relatively easy fix for Fiberine they've pull the same old BS trying to wear you down, hoping you'll simply go away. That in and of itself speaks volumes about how much they value customer satisfaction as well as word-of-mouth advertising.

Sadly the more I read about Fiberine the less I'd be inclined to use any of their products. Having dealt with them only as a prelude to potential purchase of a top I came away with a very uneasy feeling. Most small niche businesses tend to be more responsive and helpful, they were not.

Best of luck in this----I'll look forward to your progress in this matter.

Since this thread was linked to (someone had a question about windows in a high top), I read the thread again. Oooh, infuriating! And, I'd love to know how it ever turned out....?

(The painted top looks great, btw. Just like shiny white gelcoat should! Although you won't have the issues with oxidation that come along with gelcoat - years later, mind you - your top should still have been primo.)

Re: Updates as of 4-29-14.......Fiberine Top Yellowing?

Viva, I attempted to take them to small claims to recover the cost of painting. More of a principal thing actually as I am sure I have already lost more than the paint dealing with them.

After filing they filed for a change of venue. Which I would have too. The court date was set and then a few days before our court date I got a letter from the court stating the defendant did not know what they were being sued for. My attorney consultant (Tien on the forum here) stated they were most likely playing games to delay things. I replied to the court stating that Fiberine had over a year of correspondence about the situation.

In the end I booked a large multi day commercial job on the planned court date not knowing if they would get some kind of continuance. Murphy's Law, a day or two out I got the courts letter stating they denied their request and our court date was still go. Needless to say at that point I was not going to give up my job for an unknown. I may still pursue it sometime as overtime I look at it reminds me of it's poor quality....

But, the paint does looks great!!

Thanks for the update. It just burns that you had to go through all that and then not get "your day in court," but I completely understand your decision. At some point you just want/need to get on with your life (and some companies probably rely on this). Oooh

So sad to hear a company doing this and not backing their product. Sucks your went through that brent.
Scares me for sure as i've recently moved ahead with them, mainly cause their was no other alternative for the style of top i wanted. I will be installing myself on van and windows as well as having the top painted to match so i'm hoping that should better my odds with them. Wish me luck, sounds like i'll need it.

Seven year old thread, but read enough to avoid buying a top from Fiberline. Did the OP ever recover any compensation from Fiberline?

Now looking at a top made by Tufport in Canada, and having it installed by WASATCH Overland in Utah.

Anyone here have any good or not so good experience with WASATCH OVERLAND in Utah?

Fiberine is king. I would not hesitate to buy another top from Gonzolo. The reverse flange design of the Fiberine is far superior to the Tufport top. The Tufport top sits on the drip rails and can hold zero weight on the roof. Fiberine can hold 300lbs and the design prevents all water intrusion. Heard good things about Wasatch...but expensive to get a top. I was quoted $7500 for a top + install. I bought a Fiberine top reinforced with wood stringer and DIY'd the install and had it painted to match my van for well under the $7500 mark.

Looking at this video, it appears the Tufport top does have the reverse flange. Hard to imagine any top maker doing it any other way these days.
