Hard Top Thoughts...

We are up in the air a little on wether to have our hard top turned into pop top or start fresh with a new top. Colorado Camper Van stated they can use our existing top to convert to a pop top but we would need to remove the double insulation on the inside. It's not going to save us much money to use our own top and hate to seen a great one be pulled apart. Considering selling the one we have and having them do the whole project with a new top.

This poses a possible logistics issue. I have the top in California and I need to get the van to Colorado for the work. Derek said he would try selling it there for me which is a generous offer and may go that route.

Anyone have an idea what a used top like this would sell for if we go that route? It's fiberglass lined on the inside and has about 12" of rise.

That looks like a reverse flange top? Can it be removed and re-used?

Looks like it would come right off. All the screws are visible on the inside but not sure what that tells us. I think I have a close up photo of the inside corner I'll dig out.

Is it strong enough to walk on?

Brent, it looks like you have a great starting point!

We should get all the San Diego vans together sometime.
Curious is RV the place in Spring Valley or Lakeside? I got two different results when searching

Re: New to me QuadVan interior build out about to start.

Sorry I missed these last few posts…

Not sure about walking on the roof but a roof rack will be there soon with a walkable plate. Spring Valley is where RV interiors is.

Took the rig for a short shake down drive today to the Four Corner in East San Diego. Great off road area for all vehicles. This is the first time I have driven a full size vehicle here. Used to ride the area on our dirt bikes at night once a week for a few years. Not use to seeing it during the day.

Drove up to Los Pinos Peak. Great lookout tower there that was open today. Couple quick pics from the drive. Everything seemed solid.

Picked up a Warn M15000 this am and hope to have installed next week with a few other pieces while at Aluminess.

Long time friend Tien joined in at the last minute for the trial run. We drove this in his Jeep 10 years ago or so.

You certainly show many of the rest of us the difference between photography and snap-shots.
Nice Photos!

Re: New to me QuadVan interior build out about to start.

Couple images from the trip picking up the van from Quadvan in Portland down the coast. Great but brief trip. Really need to get back up there and spend some time. One of my favorite drives and looking forward to visiting again.

Re: New to me QuadVan interior build out about to start.

Part status update, part classified ad.

Selling the 16" Fiberine top that came with my van. It is double skinned (I think that is what they call it) with a fiberglass layer on the inside. Smooth interior finish.

The current top will not work with our future intended pop conversion without tearing it apart.

Picking up my new top next week. This one is available now. Depending on logistics I could possibly deliver it between San Diego and La next week. Still working some things out.

It's coming off a 2006 EB with 12,000 miles on it.

No idea on the pricing on a used top other than what they told me in the $1500.00 range so I'll start there. Posted in classifieds too.

We are going with a 20" top of similar design without the interior second skin as it will be easier to covert into a pop top in the future if we go that way. Going up to Fiberine next Wednesday for the install. I'll try to take pics of the process to post here. Then to Aluminess for measurements for the roof rack.
