Re: Van puzzle Swiss V2

I've always wondered why SMB didn't engineer the front of the PH top to have an angle that could act as an air deflector rather than an air dam. Maybe it's a fiberglass molding thing. I've thought of adding a Yakima bar with a fairing just in front of the PH leading edge.

I like the setup my VW Westfalia Vanagon (and just about all VW Westies, I think) had, with a cargo tray over the front cab that acted as an integral part of the pop-up roof design. It integrated well with the slope of the windshield and also acted as a fairing for the entire top. Also was good for impromptu storage (which, of course, killed any aerodynamic advantages).

Pic is not my exact van, but I had the same year/color:

I went an other heater route that they do not install.
Took the Webasto Dual top which does hot air and water in one bigger unit.
Didn't want to install under the body as it would sit to low and might drag so installed it between inside and outside where I found space...
It's vented, higher up while the seat is not pushed up to much and didn't loose to much inner parcel.

I'm curious how that Webasto will work out for you. Came across it while looking at something else, and it seems like a good way to go.

Great work on the top and rear seat. What's underneath the seat? Will there be a lap belt/shoulder belt for the seating position that currently doesn't have any restraints?

What are you using for the frames? They look like erector set parts.

Re: Van puzzle Swiss V2

I'm really digging the cubist approach to the furniture. Very unique.
