Re: What have you paid for a fiberglass dome top?

I bought a summit 20" mobility top reverse flange from Summit Fiberglass for $1700.00 (delivered to Nashville, TN from Indiana). Local body shop did the install for $750.00. It is a nice top. with room enough to stand. These tops are very popular with the Transportation industry, and look great. My van is a 1999 E-350 EB.

What I'm finding is this stuff takes A LOT OF TIME to get it right.
I'm finding that getting it wrong also takes a lot of time.

I'm finding that slowly redoing everything SMB did takes a lot of time.

I'm finding it hard to believe that the folks at Sportsmobile don't read this Forum and say, "Now there's something we can do to improve the quality of our product!" I'm surprised at some simple things on my rig that are poor quality that I think could have been done well during the build-out for very little, if any, additional cost.

Re: What have you paid for a fiberglass dome top?

got mine through cyclevan in nj. pretty sure it was under 2k delivered but cant remember now. that was a really big top too. I would expect a 24" to be less. that was unfinished on the inside. they did offer the option to glass in some plywood reinforcements where you want them. I declined because I will do it myself after installing windows.

also, last I checked a penthouse top from smb was 7k installed and there was no homeowner installation available. i would be shocked if they dropped the price by 2k in a year

They have upped the price. It was $5k when I had mine done in 10/2009.
