Re: Yeti Van Build

Yeti went out for her first test drive. Goal was to test the solar panels and rack for wind noise. Jeff Hickey had warned us that a lot of solar installs make drum-like thumping noises at freeway speeds. The panels were quiet at 70 MPH. Hooray!

Photo also shows the black window trim, Shady Boy awning, solar combiner box, and porch light.

Hope to be completing the build soon.

Re: Yeti Van Build

The Yeti moves! We've left Jeff's shop, RVI, and are chasing snow. We've lived in the van for a about a week now. There's a lot to learn and tweak, and it has been hectic. But, all is well. Over the coming weeks, I'll post more details and comments.

Here are a few photos. More are available on my website.

Re: Yeti Van Build

So, we've lived in the van for 2 weeks now in winter conditions.
The solar power is working well, keeping the batteries at 97-100% every day with no alternator input. The heat is toasty. We've added Reflectix for privacy in town.
The bulldog latches on the cabinets don't work. The pantry and 3 of the cabinets fly open when we drive on town streets. Jeff is shipping us replacement latches.
The automatic mode on the Fantastic Fan is very useful when we're out and the dog is inside.
We're plotting a better way to organize and secure the rear storage.
Heading to Salt Lake City next for some Spring skiing. We'd welcome advice re places to park overnight near the ski resorts.
Tips on nearby places to shower are also welcome. Our shower curtain design needs some tweaking, so the shower is not usable yet.
