Sorry for the delays folks!! Work has been exciting the last few weeks!! Holidays and students turning heat off in dorms as the Midwest experienced weeks of sub freezing temps...

And a non heated garage....

Parts came in...new dash lights installed..seatbelts came in but one was broken and eBay seller was shady..just waiting on temps to warm up so I can paint roof tins...

Weather broke and I finally got SEAT BELTS!! now I can haul minions safely!!

Tomorrow I'm picking up the roof tin and gonna try and get it painted so I can get the sub frame bolted on and the roof rack runners installed...

Then I might peel a roof...dunno...

Well folks today was the day turns out all my measuring and research and looking and figuring and being precise workout flawlessly I have to bend the edges over so that the gasket will work but I measured cut did a little bit of trimming did not get into any of the superstructure of the van walls. My framed top dropped in on its subframe plenty of room for all of the lifting mechanisms and keep the canvas tucked in out of Harm's Way!!! feeling pretty good!!!

Love it when all that measuring turns out 100% spot on---awesome job!

If you've not already thought of keeping the removed roof section consider that, space permitting of course. Never know when some part of it will come in handy.

Yup!! Currently its on top of my small stack of garage siding...might even make its way up into the garage rafters soon..I know I will be doing several more roofs judging by the reactions I've gotten!

Spent a productive rainy day with the twins!!!

Got the roof frame caulked then bolted down..pulled the roof tin off and got it bent on the sides and the last of the roof tin bolts sealed and installed....ran into a snag on my roof lift design so I've gotta do more research and design work...

So...

We cleaned everything up...got the carpet down..(waiting to put trim in till after all the power has been run for kids Usb ports..)

THEN...we decided to go ahead and build the benches..the passenger side has a slide platform (side braces need installed) it will get large port holes cut in the top so you can access, the inside for a HUGE storage area....the driver side will have a hinged lid and will be mechanical space...battery solar water tool storage...

Passenger side will have the fridge..

Part of why I didn't go with longer benches is so we can still haul animal crates in the back as we foster mini pigs and I often haul them too and fro....and we can load all our camping bins and kitchen in the back untill we get the rear kitchen box..

Good job

Wow, looks great so far! Lots of work and you are cruising along.

So, what did you change out for the dash lights? They look super bright compared to mine.

For that exact reason...my phone camera made the originals look twice as bright as they really were...

Now I can see my fuel gauge and freeway speeds!!
