FYI-they changed the asking price. It was listed for $25k yesterday. I thought it was a little overpriced at 25K. 142K mileage on a 7.5L gasser without mention of a rebuild? Your opinion?

I just went and checked this out and it is super clean. Just had a rebuild on front and rear ends and no issues with engine. The price was adjusted to account for the new Aluminess bumper that was put on last year. They have firmed up their price and will do it for $28500 with the bumper, or $25000 without. It looks like it has been very well taken care of.

Listed for 30k this morning. Now 28.5k. Looks very clean overall. Don't know much about the engine.

Re: 1996 Ford E350 4x4 Sportsmobile $30000

The 460 was one of Fords most reliable platforms for a long time. Below is something from the wikapedia link below.

The 460 was phased out for use in passenger cars in the late 70s, but continued to be produced with minimal modifications in trucks, RVs, and Boats until its production ceased in 1997. The 460 is a great towing engine. The 460 actually had higher horsepower and torque ratings than the IDI 6.9 liter and later 7.3 IDI diesel engines, though fuel economy was significantly better with the diesel. The 460 began using fuel injection in 1988, leading to a slight increase in horsepower and torque ratings. 1993 and up 460s saw an improved cylinder head design that further improved power. While perhaps best known for its poor gas milage, the later 460 is considered by most to be a reliable, long-lasting, heavy-duty, and powerful engine for towing and hauling purposes, as well as a good starting point for engine builders building dragsters. Due to its mass production and relatively minimal changes during its 30 year production run, parts are generally cheap and easy to find for the 385 series engines.

I inspected this vehicle last Friday and almost bought it on the spot. I didn't because of the mileage and age. That being said the vehicle looks to be very well taken care of.

I own a 95 with only 25k and agree that due to the high mileage on that engine (and tranny) that price seems a little high. Sweet van though if they are negotiable.

My experience is the 460 is generally good for about 250k and an e40d trans probably less, around 150k.
