1998 Ford Clubwagon / SMB top - Needs Engine

I saw this on CL and thought it could be a potential buy for someone looking to do a pop top install. Paint looks rough, but raptor line it and you're good to go. It looks like it has tracks up top with roof racks and the penthouse bed too.

The seller said he will sell the entire van for $2000 but I'm sure you could negotiate that down. He said it has a bent rod so it needs a new motor.

Re: 1998 Ford Clubwagon / SMB top - Needs Engine

After looking at the pics a little closer, it appears that this van once had a very light build out by SMB. There are SMB light fixtures and one half of a rear dinette. Theres even the mount in the floor for the table insert that goes between the dinette and what appears to be a battery vent on the drivers side rear quarter. I didn't think SMB did any build outs on the 150 chassis, but I'm no expert.

Or for $2K (or less) you have yourself a pop-top to transplant.

Thats what I was thinking. Use the pop top and bed, part out the rest of the van to the community, then have a junk yard take whatever is left.

Swapping in a long-block books at 19 hours labor. Probably save 3-4 hours with a complete motor. Might be less work than transplanting the the top...
