If in CA, I'd recommend John Wood Transmission. You can drive it in, and he'll rebuild it on the spot.

I did a BTS last year since I couldn't get on John Wood's calendar in a reasonable time frame. All said and done I think it ran closer to 8k with shipping (a big ouch in my case) and a couple of non-trivial while-you're-at-its.

John Wood also had some more budget builds that would have been cheaper as well.
