I have no affiliation with any sellers of the vans I've posted here. Just found on my local Craigslist.

The 6.0 EGR Delete kit will prevent this from passing California smog, correct? I'm really interested in this one, but I live in CA and that seems to be a dealbreaker unless I'm not understanding it correctly.

It won't pass CA's visual test; or so I read on the Diesel Forums.

Can any 6.0 owners in CA chime in and tell us if the doghouse comes off during an inspection?
Or if the EGR is actually visible w/ the hood open?

I am not from CA but have the EGR delete on my 2010 SMB 6.0 and you can see this has been done just by opening the hood. I would assume CA inspectors would know exactly what to look for. Nothing says you can’t reverse the surgery by replace the cooler and EGR valve.

I'm in CA. They always look under the hood with a flashlight. I've always assumed they are looking for the EGR.

Don’t remove doghouse, but as mentioned they inspect under the hood and underneath with flashlight.

Pretty sure it's regional and might be different from county to county. Probably controlled by the air resources board. In my area they usually require to pull the dog house and often charge if they have to do it. On my last test, I told them to be careful with the computer mounted on dog house and they skipped it. I asked what they were looking for and the kid said some people make mods like delete the EGR or install aftermarket turbos. Turbos...really? That was a new one on me. They didn't say anything about the aftermarket cold air box.

Also if you use a engine tune and remove it you, it will still throw a code until a drive cycle is completed. Takes a bit of time and it's kind of a PITA. Good old California.
