Re: 2006 sportsmobile transformer
BH -
I just don't know...
Since you've been such a help to me so far - here's my thought process -
Easiest comp:
http://www.sportsmobile.com/inventory-d ... ory_id=356
This RB '04 Diesel is $40K, you'd be at $52-55K on a 4x4 conversion, it hasn't sold (AKA overpriced) it would sell around 30-35K, and then you're down to $45-50K. On a 2wd, babied (9K miles/yr), full interior build, with brand new 4x4, SMB.
As a buyer, if I'm looking at an unimproved 6.0 with 150K miles, say I pay $60K... I've got to spend 5-10 on the engine, then I've got a high mileage SMB for 65-70K
At $65-70K - I've got my choice of dozens of overpriced SMB's... all of which aren't selling.
That said, I didn't pull this guy's photos until just now - it's a beautiful rig, which helps a lot... but he's definately used this van. (well done, btw...)
Am I'm missing something...

Sounds significantly low to me.

Agreed.. Just based on the speed of sales listing at $60-70k.. You don't list a van at $70k and settle at $45k within a few days..
Bahamame, you're looking at this all too logically.. People don't buy these because they've done all the calculations and it makes fiscal sense, people buy these because they are awesome and they HAVE to have one..

4x4 conversion is $12k-18k, depending on provider and options. Plus another $2k for wheels and tires. Plus $5k for Aluminess. So that '04, if you could get it for $35k, is now $52k-58k, and you've had it in the shop for months and missed most of the summer season. If you are willing to go through the trouble, that is certainly one way to potentially get a better deal, but it's not without it's hassles.

Re: 2006 sportsmobile transformer
I think the Transformer is more desirable than a RB30 as well. Of course it all depends on whether or not the layout will work for you, but Transformers are rare and more versatile than a dedicated camper van.

Thank you. This is why I'm asking questions.
I thought a 'transformer' was essentially a 1/2 build Sportsmobile? No stove, no cabinetry, no propane, no facilities, etc... It's a really, really cool van with a sink and a fridge, PH, and 4x4...
What do you guys think this thing is worth? If this guy sent me a PM - how much should I pay if I want pay around 'market' - if 35-45K is too low - what's just about right?

More or less.. but the hard/expensive stuff is done. Penthouse top, water system, electrical system, 4x4, bumpers, etc. The only thing missing from this and a 'full build' is a gaucho and full cabinets, and maybe propane, but that's not always wanted/needed.

As E277 wrote, all depends on what it is. Assuming 6.0 with EGR fix, under 100k, and great condition, I think $50-55k is in the ballpark..
But there's a lot of guesstimate there. 1st owner? Full records/service history? Rust? 6.0 issues? Tires? Leather? Solar? These and countless other things can drive up or down the price.

Re: 2006 sportsmobile transformer
Well, I think the OP is getting some serious mileage out of his post, but the thread is wandering around quite a bit.
For reference, here is a copy of SMB's flyer for their Transformer model.

Re: 2006 sportsmobile transformer
I just sold my 2006 EB Transformer 6.0 - Bulletproofed with 170,000 miles for high 40s Depending on the 6.0 work and mileage it should take something just over $50,000 to get this one.
